Obviously not football, or any contact or collision sport. Men are physically superior, although I read that this could be at least partially attributed to the fact women weren’t encouraged to do anything physical (be it work or sport) until recently, and that since the push for equality they’ve caught up in leaps and bounds. Even so, it’s a given that the average man is bigger and stronger than the average woman, and I’m not suggesting that women boxers should step up to the plate.

But what about non-contact sports? Power is still a big part of some of these sports, like tennis or golf, and you could argue that the average woman would still be disadvantaged. (I hear you but Serena Williams is NOT average.)

And what about sports that are much less reliant on physical attributes? Sports like darts, motor racing, horse riding, snooker or even chess? Should gender segregation be abandoned in some of these sports? Where do you draw the line?

Callaway used clubs are available in various price brackets depending upon the condition these might be in. The higher price you are willing to pay, the better the quality you will get for a set of pre owned equipment. What must not be forgotten though is that in buying these you will still end up saving a lot instead of when buying a new set. They also have various other categories for golf equipment such as ‘Like New’ which may have been a display model or excess stock. When you start exploring the web or even the stores, you will find they have a large inventory of pre owned equipment. These usually include current models and some older models, besides they keep adding fresh stock constantly. Sometimes, a particular item you may be looking for might not be available in the Callaway used clubs category but you can always keep re-visiting to check for the same.

Last week I visited Vegas for the first time. Overall the trip was great and I will be going back again. I came back with more money then when I left, so I gambled responsibly. However, the entire point of this topic is to tell you all about the hotel we stayed in and why we will never be staying there again.

Our flight landed around 2:30, we only had carry-on baggage so we didn’t need to stick around and we went straight to our hotel, the MGM Grand. Being as it’s basically right next to the airport, the drive there was 3 minutes at most.

We walk in and are impressed with the lobby. The lines for check-in aren’t very long at all. 2-3 parties in each one. After a few minutes we are helped. We sign the usual paper work and set the room up to accept room charges. I request a room with a strip view and the highest floor possible, they could only do floor 12 with 2 queen beds for strip view so I decline and just say the highest floor possible with a king bed. That gets us to floor 19.

We head up to the room. Of course, the casino is busy and the elevators are as well. After getting to the room, we notice the door is cracked opened and inside a hotel manager is there. They are inspecting a leak from the room above. It was trickling down from the ceiling in the bathroom. We ask if we can get another room and he says of course. He says we can either go down to the lobby or call the front desk and they would send a bellman up with keys to a new room. I elect to call since I’d rather not walk back down there again. (keep in mind that only about a half hour ago we had just landed and we both want to relax a bit)

I called and waited… and waited.... and waited.... on hold… for 15 minutes. I finally give up, and we walk down there. By this time of course it’s prime check-in time and the lines are longer. We wait… Finally at our turn I explain the situation and I get an apology. I explain how we already waited on hold for 15 minutes and then gave up, and waited here in line a good 10 minutes. She offers 2 buffet credits for our trouble. That was good since we were planning to go there anyway most likely. When it came to assigning the room I again ask for the highest floor possible. She gives us floor 25. Last time I checked 25 is higher then 19.... I didn’t say anything about the first guy who helped us and claimed 19 was the highest available but maybe I should have…

So, back up to our new room we go. After relaxing for a bit we decide to go downstairs and look around their casino. During our walk we find the buffet and decide that now is as good a time as any. So we go there. It was about 5pm, so slightly before the dinner rush and thus quite empty. I’m not sure if it was because it was a Tuesday or what but it never did get busy. Which turned out to be a bad thing. As I’m sure most of you are aware, buffets’ food is best when it is busy since it is constantly being replaced with new food instead of left sitting out. Well, the food was terrible. It had been sitting out and you could tell. Even the deserts were bad. We were glad we hadn’t paid for it.

After a disappointing meal we gambled a bit and finally hit the strip once it got dark out. Walked all the way down to the Bellagio and watched the dancing fountains. Nothing else too exciting that night.

The next morning was interesting to say the least. Being an early riser, I was up at 8am. (despite going to bed at 4am) I went to take a shower. Traditional low flow shower heads you find in every hotel room now days. They’re horrible. After about 2 minutes in the shower the hot water runs out. Nothing but cold water. I take quick showers so by that point i was about to finish with my hair and be done, so I decide to just finish in the sink. The hot water in the sink is scolding hot and never ran out, even after my water wasting shave. Why can’t the shower be connected to that pipe I wondered.

Unfortunately, we decided to not complain about this despite it occurring the next 2 mornings. The same exact way, hot water for around 2-3 minutes and then like clockwork, only cold. In a way I regret that as well.

I won’t bore you all with the details of the rest of our trip since it is pretty much the standard Vegas trip. So here’s the jist of it.. More gambling of course. Had some great food at Emeril’s and not so great food at a few places. We went to three shows, Zumanity, Price is Right, and Frank Caliendo. Frank Caliendo being our favorite.

For some reason, MGM Grand doesn’t leave you an itemized statement of room charges at your door like every other hotel I have ever stayed in. According to the checkout card you have to request it online. Strange but alright. After I get home I request it. After a few days I finally get an email stating: “Please contact your travel agency for your guest receipt. There are no charges on your credit card from the MGM Grand.” Well really? We charged just about everything to our room. Drinks, food… you name it.

I check my credit card statement online and sure enough..... 06/04/2010 MGM GRAND HOTEL LAS VEGAS NV $488.58

Why the outward lie I wonder? Laziness? Computer error? I contemplate requesting a charge back since supposedly MGM claimed they didn’t charge my card. However I’m not a lawyer so I’m not sure of the legal implications. I decide to email back stating that yes there is indeed a charge from MGM Grand. The next email I receive just says “See attachment” nothing else. No apology for the mistake, not even a please or thank you. The attachment is a list of room charges. One wonders why it was so hard to obtain this. After reviewing the charges, I found out why…
